In this time of business transformation, engagement of Mid-level leaders by the executive team is crucial.  Mid-level Leaders (managers) support the message from the C-Suite and provide the feedback loop critical to getting all on board with the future vision. These managers live and speak the language of working level individuals and will have the most impact to ensure engagement and buy-in. To get here, requires a purposeful level of communication from executive leaders in our virtually connected world.

Mid-level leaders must be able to answer these basic questions to impact understanding of working level individuals:

  • What is happening?
  • Why is this happening?
  • What will I see along the way to know this is happening?
  • How will this affect me?
  • What do you want me to do?

 

The clarity of the communication and the expectations of Mid-level management in cascading executive level communication are crucial elements of an overall plan.

As an executive, plan your approach and frequency of communication to those managing the face of the work or service.  Place extra emphasis on the impact the mid-level manager will have on the success of the business change, and provide them with the tools to enable them to be effective communicators and transformational leaders, This is how an entire organization is effectively mobilized.
