Jan’s combination of thought leadership, commercial pragmatism, and analytical rigor stems from his diverse background in the international energy arena. He is comfortable working with oil major executives, government officials, the diplomatic corps and multi-lateral lenders. Jan has held project leadership positions with Chevron around the world, and more recently he has worked on the other side of the fence advising governments how to maximize value from their oil & gas resources, as well as advocating for citizens’ rights with respect to natural resources. Jan has leadership and relationship building expertise in international joint ventures, and has mostly managed complex multi-stakeholder major capital projects, with a focus on offshore gas-to-power in Asia. He understands both the technical and commercial drivers for success, from the oil company perspective and from the country perspective. Jan is comfortable developing policies for governments and multi-lateral lenders, as well as vetting investment proposals, auditing annual work plans & budgets, conducting project reviews and lookbacks, and managing teams performing designs and executing projects. Jan navigates effectively between cultures due to his diverse personal and professional background. As a dual Danish/Guyanese citizen and US resident, who also lived and worked in South East Asia, he is especially skilled at approaching problems with a broad critical lens.
